I'm not your typical chick when it comes to cars. I change my own oil, plugs, intake manifolds, and have even done a head gasket or two. I'm a chevy girl and my guy is a Mustang guy. We've been seeing each other for about a month and I made a mistake today, maybe you guys can help me make it up to him.

We were supposed to spend the day togather having fun since its the first full day off we've both had since we started dating. A friend of his called and told him that he saw a auto tranny with a bellhousing for a Mustang II in a local junk yard. I got mad when he interrupted our plans to check out this transmission then buy it. Imagine going out to nice restraunt with the nastiest transmission ever seen in the back of his truck.

I now realise I was wrong to get mad, and now I want to help him out as an apology. he's looking for an AC compressor he can run on his II with a serpentine belt setup from a brickstang, 80-9x model. or a clutch/pully setup he can run on the stock 76 compressor. So if you guys can help tell him what he needs or just give me what I need to point him in the right direction I would be very happy.

Also I don't know why every body hates on your cars. I thought Aarons 76 was an 05/06 model at first when I saw it at a distance. tia, much appreciated.

A brickstang!! HAHA love it. (The fox started in '79, I can't recall when they went to serp belt system, though, might have been 82 or 83.)
The bracketry is different between the II and the newer serp belt cars. Even the water pump on the foxes turns the opposite direction. It can be done of course, but it's a pain. I never found it to be worth the effort to convert it over.

he already has the water pump, pullies, and most of the brackets for this system (comming off of his drag car he's parting out). what he needs is an AC compressor or a clutch/pully assm. that will fit the original II compressor for the newer belts. I don't know about the 79 models, but I know for a fact some of the 80 model and later brickstangs had the serpetine belt systems (my ex-husbands 80 stang had it).

I don't know a lot about AC systems, but what is wrong with using a compressor from a Fox?

Ditto that it will be easier to create a mount system for a "BrickStang" compressor than to find a serpantine pulley that fits the II compressor. Although you might check some early 80s Lincolns they may have had serp systems on the older Ford Compressors. Best of luck and BTW, Ford guys ROCK! but you know that or you wouldnt be here asking the question...heh heh...
