Need cam recommendations

Im thinking about getting some AFR 165's and a cam. I can't figure out what cam to get. A lot of people say go to Ed and get a custom cam. Im in CA and need to pass smog. Im not sure what the inspectors going to say when it has a lopey idle and I dont have a carb # for the cam. I want it to have a nice lopey idle but it needs to have a carb #. What do I look for when choosing a cam? How do I know if ill have piston to valve clearence problems? What else will I need to make all this work? I know ill need rockers and probly pushrods. My mods are in my sig.

ed can burn you a emission legal cam and get you a nice set of 165's too talk to him about your cali deal. he is a pro and im sure he has tons of customers in cali that need the same thing as you.

Yeah, My buddy mike has eds afr heads and cam in his motor in cali.

The CA inspector i went to didnt like my Trick Flow stage 1 cam and wouldn't let me smog test so for ease i became a sheep and bought the e303.

Personally would spend the money for a custom but one off shalf I would get for your application is Crane 444221 (used to be 2030).
