Does anyone know where to buy one of these? I bought the car used and it came with a DiabloSport computer chip in it. I want to take the Diablo chip out and put a factory one in, but the one for my car was kept by the mechanic who can't seem to be located anymore. I called the dealer and they said the whole computer (ecu) must be bought. I know GM sells the removeable chip seperately, but does Ford? Any help would be appreciated.

These cars don not come with a factory chip, just the connection that allows a chip to be installed. The connection is always covered with a sapping substance that needs to be scrapped off before installing a chip.

In other words, pull the chip and your back to factory settings.

Thanks. I'll look into that. I haven't pulled the ecm yet to look, but a "knowledgeable" Ford mechanic said to install the chip I have you must remove the factory chip. I know there is a cover that is suppose to go where this Diablo chip is, but I didn't know if there was something else that had been removed. I guess I can just cover the hole with tape or something. Thanks again.

Yes . . . There is no such thing as a factory chip. So either you misunderstood what you were being told, or the "knowledgeable Ford mechanic" is not as knowledgeable as you are being led to believe.

Either way, there is no chip.

StratGT is correct.

yea no chip comes in the car, its just the ecu. pull the chip and the car should return to stock. im purposly going to buy just a tuned chip for my car, so if need be i can just pull it and have them plug in for emissions. if the ecu is flashed then the settings are set into the cars computer. not with a chip though

your ok to just pull it.

okay, thanks everyone. i guess the Ford mechanic is not so smart after all. I am a long time Mopar man, and this is my first Ford, so some of this Ford stuff is different to me. thanks again.
