Check out Mustang Steve's website - the page dedicated to his daughter's coupe. He used chemical stripper and a pressure washer to get the majority of the paint off. He mentions the metal prep solution that he used to prevent flash rust.
Look up 3M bristle discs. I use the green (80 grit) discs and they're about $20 each and you can do a car in a day with about 6 discs. No mess, no toxic clean up and no fear of metal damage.
