Need Help Adjusting Odometer. Not The Gauge That Came With The Car.

So as most of you may know, my gauge is not the original gauge cluster that came with the car. I found out that it was taken out of a 2001 Mustang at a junkyard with the wrong mileage. Would this cause any problems for my car seeing I have a 2002 Mustang GT?

Is there anything I need to have done to the cluster, do I need to buy a 2002 gauge cluster for the car? While I'm dealing with the cluster, where in LA can I go to have the milage changed to the right mileage and about how much would it cost?

Everything works fine. There is one issue, probably minor... When you turn the light knob to the right, about half way it will start to dim and then if you keep turning it, it will blink and disappear for a minute and then go bright again.

I might look at replacing that switch then. Otherwise, press on with pride. You can keep track of the mileage manually (old oldometer + whatever you put on this odometer). You can also take it apart and rotate the OD dial to match you old one. I recently saw a thread about that very thing, here on Stangnet.

I'm pretty sure you have to pull the same gear that's talked about in the thread in order to roll the tumblers around. Jinx should be able to help you out.

Some place here in LA wanted to charge me $200 to change the mileage back to the right mileage.

Sounds about right... It's a couple hours of labor but you can do it yourself.

Can't do what jynx did in his thread. Jynx's car has the old odometer an trip while the 99+ cars are digital. I got a feeling you may be stuck spending money if to really want it fixed.

Sorry about being late to the party. I did remove and replace the gears for the odometer in a '95, but never rolled back or rolled forward the mileage. Did not have to.

Since the newer clusters are digital, I'm guessing you have to have a programmer of sorts to reset it. I'm not even sure if the newer clusters are completely digital, or if they are mechanical with a digital readout??

So basically I'll have no choice but to pay that $200 to fix the mileage. Seems pretty steep but it is what it is. Thanks guys
