ok heres the deal i got an 83 mustnag gt. i have put a 89 roller motor in it, converted it from 4 speed to a t-5, ford motor sports blowproof, bell housing stock motor mounts and stock trans mount, BBK 1-5/8 equal length shorty headers, i also instaled a unisteer manual rack and pinion along with a unisteer steering shaft with universal joints. now here is how this relates to my problem.... my motor is sitting about 2 inches to the passengers side and the drivers side header is laying on the steering shaft how the heck can fix these problems? is using mounts for an 83 mustnag gt the wrong thing to do they arent in backwards or anything and im just lost. oh also if it helps the roller motor is out of a lincoln lsc. please help me im on my last nerve with this car its turning into problem after problem guess this why you should test fit everything first lol

Well, 84 and older is a different K-Frame than 85 and newer. Here is the interchange on the 85 and newer...

Capri '85 Front; from 2/85
Capri '86 Front
LTD '85 Front; 4 cyl and 6 cyl, from 2/85, std duty
LTD '86 Front; std duty
Marquis '85 Front; from 2/85, std duty
Marquis '86 Front; std duty
Mustang '85 Front; exc. SVO; from 2/85
Mustang '86 Front; exc. SVO
Mustang '87-93 Front; 4 cyl

84 and older.....

Capri '82 Front; exc. 6-200; std duty
Capri '83 Front
Capri '84 Front; thru 11/83
Fairmont '82 Front; std duty, exc. 6 cyl
Fairmont '83 Front; 4 cyl, std duty
Mustang '82 Front; exc. 6-200; std duty
Mustang '83 Front
Mustang '84 Front; exc. SVO; thru 11/83
Zephyr '82 Front; std duty, exc. 6 cyl
Zephyr '83 Front; 4 cyl, std duty

I would suggest trying newer motor mounts, but if that doesn't work, you may have to get a newr K-member....they will bolt up!!

does any one know what exactly the differences are in these k frames and or motor mounts not that i dump money and have the same problem in the long run no offense SVT just been building this on really tight budget over a few years and hate to dump money (more than a already have atleast) and end up back in the same boat im in. i never even imagined putting a v8 back in a v8 car could produce roblems but i assume with the stuff i added thats my luck

I actually believe that all v-8 car kinda have the motor sitting a little to the passenger side. When I installed my 351w and I had a stock hood I had to cut a hole for the air cleaner. The hole is offset to the passenger side. This allows room for the streering shaft. Perhaps and I'm not an expert on early model fox bodies but perhaps try bolting a 83 stock manifold up and see if that clears your steering shaft.

My solid mounts from Moroso bumped my engine about a half inch up. If that helps, maybe you want to try them out?
