I have a 95 GT that is bone stock and a daily driver, about once in a while you can be driving along and the car will jerk [my wife calls it a hicup] the car does not back fire it just acts like the ignition was turned of and back on ,it has new wires from ford and a new dist cap and plugs, i sprayed water all over the cap and coil and it just keept running fine, what gives??????

Andy, akin to the TFI issues on fox III's, the PIP is probematic on 94-95's. It can hiccup and cause just the chug I think you're describing.

I like to spray electrical contact cleaner on my PIP occasionally as a quick maintenance type thing (it takes 30 seconds to a minute to do).

You often won't see a PIP code (211 IIRC) with a little burp like this.

Were I to guess, that is what I'd look at first.

Good luck.

What do you mean by pip???thank you sooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

PIP = Profile Ignition Pick-up. If you remove the distributor cap, you'll see the components inside the bowl of the dizzy.

The PIP is responsible for base ignition and fuel injector timing so it's pretty important.

Good luck.

I had a similar problem with my 86, i'd be driving normally and all the sudden the car would jerk and act as if the ignition was cutting out, found out I had a bad ground. Took a while to figure it out but eventually found it and then it ran great.
