I have an unmolested 1990 GT with 40K miles that I want to bring back to showroom condition. It needs a few things. The radio has power (the green LED lights are on), but it doesn't make any noise or show any numbers on the LCD screen. Anyone have this problem? Anyone know of a solution?

You seem to have power to the lights which are controller by the dimmer, but no power to the radio tuner.

See for a wiring diagram of the radio wiring harness connector

You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

I have two junk radios under my bench from trying to fix the stock radios. The third junk radio is in the car and only the tape deck works. The front panel is connected to the tuner PCB with a very fragile ribbon cable that comes unsoldered very easily. Unless you do electronic PCB repair for a living, I would not recommend detaching the front panel. I did and, had to attempt to repair the broken ribbon cable using 30 gauge wire wrap wire. It isn't pretty, but it did work for a while - just not long enough. There is a company that repairs the OEM radios, but the fee is about $140. For that price, I could get a fairly nice new radio from www.crutchfield.com.

To find a repair shop check out http://www.google.com/search?q=OEM+...-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1. There are lots of useless links, but some good ones too.

Sounds like a trip to the junkyard is required. Maybe I can pick one up here or on eBay.
