Define "cheap." And what type of block are you looking for?

I think the car in his sig is now wrecked and that's why he is now looking for a new car to work on.

I say just keep an eye out in your local paper and the classifieds on the various mustang boards and look for a used shortblock and rebuild it as time and money permits. If you want this next car to be a real ringer, start off with a heavy duty block like a dart/FRPP/world products casting. If you want to know why check this out...

Holy hell!

I've never seen anything that bad. The crank was busted right at the snout too. I wonder if the crank took the block or if the block took the crank. I've never seen a crank snapped like that either - right on the fillet.

Let this be a message to the people who want to squeeze big numbers out of a little 'ol stock block 302 or some variation of a 302 in the stock casings.

The only 302 block I would use that isn't DART or World is a Mexican block.

That's pretty wild isn't it! I have seen a crank like that once. A local guy was spinning a stock bottom end to... 8000rpms! DOH! It sent the crank right out through the oil pan and onto the ground in 2 pieces, one piece still had 2 connecting rods and pistons attached.

I've seen a rod let go (exit stage right ) that mangled up the crank pretty bad, but I've never seen anything like that.

Paul did you get my email I wrote back to you? No rush or anything, just making sure you got it. My email account is weird sometimes.
