Need help installing hood pins on my 95

I bought the mr gasket hood pins for my 95 and have some questions about installing them. I removed the bump stop for the hood. Do I remove the base? Or do I drill the hole on the base for the stud? What is the correct way to do the installation?

Well, if you take that stopper out, you have nothing to keep your hood from bouncing up and down. I took it out and put my pins there and learned that lesson the hard way. I ended up using thick foam tape layered up next to the pins to give my hood something to rest on.

Thats a good idea with the washers over the pins. I will be stealing that idea now, thanks.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

I did the same thing. The only thing I wasn't satisfied with was the base. I didn't feel that the base was strong enough should the hood decide to pop up. That base is designed to level the hood, not keep it from flying off the car. I took 2 pieces of 1/4" steel, and drilled and tapped them. I pulled those bases out, and welded the 1/4" steel pieces directly to the core support. I then locked the pins down with another set of nuts that I had trimmed a little bit. Then drilled holes in the rubber pieces and slid them over the pins.

I welded my top nut to the metal... just tapped them lightly with a rubber mallet to straiten them out.

i lost my stops so i used ones from a FC rx7 we had in the yard.

i cut a small slit in the underside of the hood to get the striker plates inside. then riveted the top plates in place
