Its a 01 GT stock exhaust with 3 chamber flows. She just found out that 2 of the cats are bad.

I told her to replace it with a o/r x pipe but shes saying she wants a pipe with cats.

We are from cali btw but Im not worried about getting in trouble for it, my area isnt hard on stuff like that.

So I suggested getting the o/r x pipe AND buying a used stock pipe with cats from someone on the boards or local.

What do you guys think?

If she buys an o/r pipe and a stock H, she might as well get the catted X like she wants. She will probably be in the same neighborhood (money wise), and she would be happier cause it's what she actually wants on the car.

Try Ebay and keep checking back . . . might get lucky and find a used Bassani X w/ cats for a very reasonable price . . . and they are SS . . . million mile warranty . . . that's where I picked mine up for around $200 if I remember correctly.

I enjoy the MRT H-Pipe. Uses Magna Flow cats. It is SS. Bit on the pricey side though, or at least when I bought mine.

It may have been luck, but I passed smog with it too. Barely, but did.

But I took it to a gas station that did not look like they were real serious about visuals.

So even if she gets a catted x pipe she wont pass the visual?

Do you guys think she can pass the sniffer without cats?

I want to order this pipe today, so thanks for all the quick replies

Nope. Not even close.

However, if they just plug the car in and scan the computer, it may pass as long as they don't do a visual. It depends on where you go though because if a loud Mustang pulls in, the savvy mechanic would know it's cats are missing.

If she wants a catted pipe, let her get it. She has to drive the car. Besides, smelling like raw fuel everytime you exit the car isn't exactly the most attractive thing in the world. It was one of the reasons why i put a catted pipe back on my 5.0.

just remember its you girlfriends car if she wants cats then just get a catted x pipe or something so she enjoys driving it still if she doesnt like the sound of o/r, plus easier for emissions
