Need help deciding -ASAP-

I have the oppurtunity to buy a 78 mach-1 (302) t-top fast-back auto with only 86k origanal miles, new exhaust, tires adn brakes... its in VERY good condition, and they are asking $2500, although I talked them down to 2k.

I am 16, and was looking to get a older car to "restore" myself and have a little fun -w- afterwards, as I have all the supplies, and some experiance to do most of the work (painting and slightly decking out).

I dont know a whole lot about the MII so I wasnt sure if I should buy it or not.

Need help asap.

A few things you might consider before buying:

1. Parts are hard to find both in the junkyard and from Ford or parts store. They are readily available on the internet however, sometimes at a premium.

2. After putting all that blood, sweat, and tears into the car, there will be more than a few knuckle-heads that stop just short of insulting your car because it's "not a real Mustang" or "nice but not a classic Mustang".

3. The car itself is easy to work on, but can present some unique and often frustrating challenges when attempting to make modifications.

4. You may actually "get off" on points 1, 2, & 3 and become thoroughly addicted to this car, abandoning most other things you used to think were important. :nice:

Is 86k too many miles? a friend told me to sell it before it hits 100, so I might just drive it to about 98k and sell it... unless I like it too much.

Thanks for all the replies
