Need help with broken T-5 transmission and driveshaft

My drive shaft broke up on the slip yoke in front where it goes into the transmisson. When it broke, it flew apart and broke a part of the transmission where the seal goes off. So my question is: is the rear tail of the transmission just a case that can be replaced easily or will there need to be gears removed to take off the rear tail of the tranny. If anyone knows a site with a cutaway picture of a T-5 or instructions on how to tear it down please post them b/c my Hanes manual doesnt go into detail on the transmission. Thank you.

if the only thing it hurt was the tailshaft housing, yes if you can get one its fairly easy to change out

put transmision in neutral, pull shifter, pound out roll pin, remove offset lever(thing the shifter ball sits int, and you just pounded roll pin out of), remove bolts holding extension housing to main housing and pull it off

dont know if its possible in car so youll most likley have to pull the tranny

goodluck

See http://www.ttcautomotive.com/English/onlineorder/product.asp to download a FREE service manual for T5 or Tremec 3550
You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

See http://www.ddperformance.com/index2.htm for parts
or

A T5 rebuild kit with syncros, bearings and other small parts costs about $160. It does not include any gears or shafts.

There is a video on how to rebuild your T5 or Tremec. If http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com/ are out of stock see http://cartapes.com. It costs less than $20, and is worth every penny of it.

I did a Tremec 3550 rebuild, and it wasn't that difficult. The video was an immense help, and I would recommend viewing it. At $20, it will give you an opportunity to look and decide for yourself if you think that it is something you want to try to do.

I pulled the tranny out this morning and part of the slip yoke is still jammed in there,... so i smoothed it up a little with a side grinder and welded a peice of angle iron to it and tried pulling it out and it wouldnt come out, so i tried hitting it out with a hammer and it still wouldnt come out, all it did was broke the weld off and pulled alot of the cheap pot-metal with it(no wonder it broke so easily when i was just doin a 2000 rpm start). Any suggestions on how to get it out. Also, does that FMS driveshaft in jegs or summit have higher strength yokes that arent cheap pot-metal so i dont have to go through this again.
