ok, when im pushing the clutch pedal in, it gets about half way down, and then makes a loud pop, seeming to be disengaging from pulling the cable, and then it continues to the floor. When letting up on the clutch, its making a ratcheting noise. The clutch has plenty of resistance when first pushing it in until it hits the pop, then it seems to lose a little, but still feels a bit firm. what could this be?

New cable?
dosent the 5.0 have an auto adjusting clutch thingy?

any help would be appreciated.

i don't know what year your car is but yes alot of fox body mustangs come with a self adjustine clutch mechanism. just pull up on the clutch pedal and the plastic pawl on the quadrant will re-adjust. but, it sounds like the end of your clutch cable might be worn where it attaches to the clutch fork. i would check that out first. good luck.

if you havent put an aftermarket quadrant in it than the stock quadrant is still there and its almost shot. check out upr or the stangnet parts shopper and get yourself a firewall adjuster and quadrant. ive got the fiore micro click adjuster and quadrant and couldnt be happier with how easily it adjusts and how well it works. if you really want some good info PM v8only or just wait and see if jeremy replies
