Need help with installation '94-'95 Cobra intake on my '94 GT

Last5.0 did you measure bolts , damit I need that info by saturday

I'll measure mine tonight and let you know, my intake is off the car right now. I just set the upper onto the lower and stuck a stock bolt up next to the hole to test fit length and added to compensate for enough thread engagement (you can see the area in the lower intake where the bolts thread into). Then went to Home Depot and bought some good bolts that were the closest in length to what I needed. They've worked for me the past 1 1/2 years. I will post up actual lengths later tonight.

I forget to tell you guys , when I take off old intake I gonna put some paint on valve covers , do I have to change valve cover gasket when I take covers off , I thing those gaskets are rubber ,mey be I don't have to change


And 1105 do you know about torque for lower intake bolts

Assuming that they are all the same thread pattern, you could just but 20 bolts w/ different lengths. 5 of each length or whatever. Then take back what you didn't use.

Well, if RTV works, then I guess that is what you should use! The intake manifold isn't under tons of pressure like the heads are, so extreme "sealage" isn't necessary.

Look in your haynes manual. That should tell you torque specs.

Sorry, been out and just got home. The smallest bolts that are on the two outer ears you should be able to reuse from your stock intake, they're like 1 1/2" or 2" long. You might also be able to reuse your longest two bolts from your stocker for the other two outer holes on the Cobra (size I have are 5 1/2"), then the longest (which go in the center of the intake) are about 6 1/4". That's measuring from under the head of the bolt down, so just the shaft of the bolt.

If they are the stock covers and stock gaskets (those thin metal ones) you may be ok. Those stock ones are on there pretty tightly. When you take the old ones off, try to move the stock gaskets with light pressure. If they seam seated on there pretty well, you should be ok with them. ( I kept mine on with different VC's. They leaked. I put the stock covers back on (painted) and still kept the gasket, and they have been fine for 6 or 7 weeks now.

RC do you know what color paint I could put on valve covers, I have choice between red (like my car) or silver (aluminum color) today I going to finish polished upper Cobra intake so what color is good

I just went to the paint section and got the "most red" looking engine paint. There is a Ford and Chevy Red. I think they both have some orangy tint to them, but the CHevy seemed to be a little more orangy than the Ford.
Use a couple coats of engine primer, sand in between, then use engine red.

DONT use silvery paints for that...I think it looks like you are trying to imitate chrome, then it looks worse.

Oh..btw.. few things:

1. That STB will not fit with the Cobra..You can sell that for some $$ on EBAY.
2. That metal bracket that holds the PS pulley/idler pulley and coil will look really nice if you brush it up and polish it.
3. Your Engine bay is shaping up pretty nice!
