Well I am having trouble with my stang and I am looking at possibly selling it because I need something reliable and I cannot afford to keep up with the demand of this car. Basically, what it comes down to is the hall effect sensor/PIP sensor in the distributor that is giving me trouble. I had the dizzy replaced once before only to keep giving me the same trouble. It dies when I am driving. It is getting worse and worse. I ran the codes myself and the code was for the PIP sensor. I am not mechanically inclined to replace it myself. I took it in to the dealership and they said they ran codes and found nothing. They had it for three days and thought it was the fuel pump, but by the third day they said it was not the fuel pump and said they cannot find what is wrong with it. They drove it a few times and it never died on them but the RPM's did drop down to zero and go back up when they test drove it. What I need is for a fellow stanger to help me fix this problem or a shop to be able to fix this problem for me. Anyone who lives in the Phoenix metro area willing to help me out, I would pay you of course, or know of a reputable shop that could deffinitely figure out the problem for me. Thanks for any help or assitance!!

Why not replace the distributor?

Have you poked around on 1320stangs.com? There's a TON of Phoenix guys on there (who would know good shops and/or just help you on the weekend, I bet). Also, there are some good (nice, knowledgable) Greater Phx area guys on here who might see the thread and help ya out brah.

I'm a little too far away to meet with you locally or I'd do it.

Good luck!

heres a link to a reman. distributor i'm guessing yours is a 95 you did not list year model but i believe the dist. in the link will fit a 94 too.but if you need one contact autozone they will get you the right one...a few people on this site have used this dist. from autozone and i have not heard anything bad about them yet.

I had the exact same problem about 3 years ago. Mine would decide when it wanted/didn't want to start, yours too?? Also died on me a few times while driving down the road. Try replacing the distributor module.. It's a small wire harness that pokes out of your dizzy, and one part goes to the ignition module... I replaced that, cost me $15, and I haven't had a problem since..

I also had the same probs with my 95. I replaced the sensor in the dizzy and the ignition module on the passenger side fender. Seeing that u have a new dizzy I would also change this, its super easy to do with minimal tools and I havent had a problem since. Also when I replaced it I had to buy some thermal paste crap to go between the module and the aluminum heat sink, the parts guy said it wasnt needed but would help it last longer. And I never could pull any codes saying that it was bad

Yeah I replaced the ignition control module first before I had the dizzy replaced. Did not cure my problem. As a matter of fact, I replaced it myself with a autozone part, then the dealership replaced it again with a motorcraft part because they were taking a shot in the dark thinking that was the problem...but it wasnt. I have heard bad things about AMP.
