Well i happen to have the plain jane v6 hood on my 99gt and it bothers me, everytime i look at it it reminds me of a v6. I want to spice it up a little but dont want to buy a new hood yet or dish out the 130$ for a hoood scoop the later model gt's have. I want it to look original. Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is the hood scoop. That's what I did to my old v6 and it makes a big difference.

dont waste your money for a hoodscoop. get a cobra R hood, or a cowl hood. something that isnt stock.

He said he didn't want to spend the money on a hood scoop, why would he wanna spend the money on a new hood?

Then there's not much he can do to his hood. Except maybe to add an insert like this:

Get the 2000 Spring Edition GT Stripes on the hood that might help the non-v6 look

Not to much you can do to change a hood without spending some $. Just save some up and get the Cobra R and then everything would be ok.

Other than decals, anything hood-related will be pricey...

I have a 2000 as well, white with black vinyl mach 1 striping on the hood/trunk. It was on the car when I bought it and I think it does help quite a bit but I have decided to buy a new hood altogether... Anyone want to sell a stock 2001+ GT hood?

Yeah, I gotta admit... So do I

The 2001+ GT would not be the same without the fake hood and side scoops. If you keep the grill black plastic well coated with 303 Aerospace Protectant they will look deeper and more realistic. It is when the plastic grills in the scoops get all dirty and faded that it looks like shiot...

The following hoodscoop mods are NOT Kilgore-recommended:
-lights
-billet grill
-grill delete
-attempts to "make functional"
-hood or quarter panel cutting of any kind
-blow off valves that shoot "smoke" out the grill

The fake scoops were one of the reasons i chose to buy a 01+ over a 99-00 Mustang.....along with the blacked out headlights, new spoiler, bullitt wheels and 6-disk changer
