hello everyone, im looking for parts and info on a 5.0 swap out of a 97 explorer with an aode and gt-40 heads into a 92 lx convertible 4 banger automatic. im wondering what i need to change it over to a 5.0 efi with an aod trans, or c4, or maybe t-5 if i can ever find a decent one at a good price. i have some parts like brackets and such left over from my 94 gt i changed over to carb and 331 but i am more interested in what i should be looking for as far as harnesses go and whether anyone has used an explorer harness and computer. any info would be great, while i have built several gts, ive never done the swap and want to do it as cheap and easy as possible. thanks

Well I'm not sure about the explorer harness, but i tried using an 88 t-bird harness in mine and it wouldn't work. Well maybe it would but there was gonna be a ton of rewiring i had to do on drivers side of the car so I dont think it's worth it. You'd be better off to try to find a mustang harness and save the headache. Thats what i'm looking for right now too.

well, its got 86k original miles, i have a motor, rear, two left side ranger axles and aerostar rotors for the conversion, well, pretty much everything i need accept the trans and harness, so theres no turning back now. gts are usually beat up around here, the lxs are usually in much better shape. bought it for 800 without a single door ding or spot of rust and a perfect interior. all it needs is the swap, a black top and paint. i can do it all in my garage

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

I am in the middle of the same project. find a harness and ECU from 92-93 5.0 mustang and you will be good to go.
