Hi all, new here, hope some of you can help me out.
I don't have a mustang.... but do have a something with a ford motor in it.
This past spring I bought a Mastercraft boat with an indmar engine in it, which is what I understand to be a 351w, that is carburated with a Holley 4010 model carb. While it has run great all summer, I am trying to see what it would take to convert it to EFI since I have time to work on it over the winter and it needs a carb rebuild anyway. I am pretty mechanically inclined, as I am a Corvette guy (yeah I know I promise not to start any trouble) and have rebuilt several of them including my current '90 model from the ground up.
My questions are as follows:
1. Am I correct in thinking that the 5.0 and 5.7 intakes are interchangeable and are there any significant differences, either in size or performance. If so what stock model intakes should I be looking for. I'm not looking to break the bank, just convert it to something more fuel efficient and reliable, high performance is secondary in this case and I don't mind buying a used setup of ebay or a junk yard.
2. I do have a bit of clearance issue, so can someone tell me what the height of a 5.0 EFI unit is from the base or valley to the tallest point is.
3. Has anyone on here converted a 302 or a 351w carbed engine to efi and if so any pointers or pitfalls to avoid would be appreciated.
