I did a search before I asked this question, could not find a similar combination.

What is your thoughts on this combo, keep in mind that this is a 90 Ranger.

302, Gt40p heads shaved .030 with 1.7 roller rockers, flat top pistons, e303 cam, aod trans with shift kit, 2400-2600 stall converter & 3.73 gears.

I am about to build this and honestly I am somewhat of a novice. Is there any pitfalls with this setup?

What do you think my compression will be? Is flat top pistons a overkill?

Thanks for the help.
Bob

I also have some 4.11 gears that I could use.

What if I used the stock roller cam would the 2600 stall work better.

What kind of horse power #s do you think the e cam combo put out.

I am using a carb.

You should be able to get an honest 300hp out of the combo. More power is easily attainable, depending on what accessories are utilized and what pullies are used. Is your ranger body lifted? That swap is pretty labor-intensive for most people, but well worth it. I have a bronco II that I almost did a 5.0 swap with. I would recommend a 2800 to 3000 stall converter. The gears are a matter of preference; I am retaining the same 3.73 ratio with my truck, while converting to a ford explorer 8.8. I am installing my AOD soon as well, also with a shift kit. Since I am retaining my 2.9, I am running a converter that stalls anywhere from 2200 to 2400. Good luck!
