Need info

I can get a set of 1990 pistons and rods for free.My question is would the 90 piston be as strong as some after market forge pistons?I'm doing a h/c/i this summer and a little spray so,I wanted to get rid of the hyper pistons.But I don't know if I should get them and put them in or not.Oh and what type of crank would I need to get for a 306 or should I just keep the stock one?

i may be worng, but i dont think you can even use stock pistons with a 306... the reason i think i might be wrong though, is because a 306 is just a 302 bored '30 over. and no, you wouldn't need a different crank, that im sure of

Oh ok my friend told me I would just need to use bigger rings.Maybe I'll won't bore it out.I'm just trying to save some money,and I don't want to go with a buget h/c/i

No way I'd go the "ring route" on a street motor. You want piston to wall tolerance to be in spec.

So it would be a bad idea....I guess I'll just keep it a 302 and replace all the rings and bearings,and put the 90 pistons and rods in.
