Well, I was set on ordering the new C&L/BBK plenum and 75mm TB tomarrow from RPM outlet.

I was surfing around to see if there was anything else I would rather get, when I noticed that American Muscle (formerly Mustang Tuning) is selling Diablosport Predators for $320 shipped... I think thats a damn good deal.

So first off, whats the better bang for the buck? Plenum and TB or tuner?

If its the tuner, I would be worried that the X-cal 2 would be the better one to go with. I dont plan on having the car dyno tuned (as of now) with either one, so is there a big difference? Im new to the flash tuner things aswell... do I program the car, or do the tuners come pre-loaded with tunes?

If they came pre-loaded, then I might want to wait because I plan on adding a few more mods and possibly gears, so I would want it to compensate for the right ratio...

So if you guys could explain the tuner thing to me, that would be great. Also which would be a better bang for the buck mod (pretty sure I know the outcome...).

find out what your local dyno supports, sct or diablo.

you're able to adjust your spark, fuel, timing and whatnot to give yourself more horsepower. depending on where you buy it from, they custom make a tune for the mods you have. personally, I'd buy the xcal 2 from MPH.

personally, I'd buy gears (4.10s), or a midpipe before buying the tb + plenum, or tuner.

No local dyno...:(

Ill probaly go ahead and get tb and plenum, decide on gears and anything else first.

I should look into the tuning stuff a little more before I jump on it.

If you order a tuner with no plans to get a dyno tune, you get a round about guess tune. It's a tune that is made for a car with your mods, but its not specific like a dyno tune is. Dyno tune is the best way to go.

Some mail order tunes are better than others but mine was crap. I gained 5 tenths and 4 MPH with a dyno tune compared to the mail order. A street tune would be good to if you have a shop that does them.

With your mods the gains from the tuner would be minimal...but so would the TB and plenum. With that said they are all pieces to the puzzle that come together as you add more mods.

I know...not much help huh?

I prefer SCT and since I have a fairly local ( ok 2 hours away but they ROCK) dyno shop I went with the xcal2.
I know several people that used the daiblo and all were happy with it. My understanding is they have "unlocked" them more so you can tune more with them. Of course the best and safest way to tune is on a dyno with someone that understands the software.

As for mods. Some really like the plenum tb combo's some don't.
handhelds some get big gains some hardly any. ( :( )
gears :) everyone raves about them there is a reason
