Need More Aftermarket Parts For 71-73 Stangs

Boy am I getting tired of seeing some new cool aftermarket product for classic mustangs that I can't use on mine. I really wish whoever it is out there making parts would develop their new brake, steering, interior trim, and etcetera kits for the 71-73 mustangs.

I wish I had the money to start a 71-73 specific parts company or something.

Yeah, as the prices for '69 and '70 sportsroofs keeps skyrocketing more people will start buying our cars and need parts. NPD just came out with new replacement converible interior quarter panels. None for the fastbacks, yet. They are charging $149 for a set. I know I paid more than that for my used sportsroof ones I got on ebay.

I couldn't find anything except for the convertible quarter panels on ebay and nothing on Laurel Mountains website. I don't think anyone is making the interior quarter panels for the sportsroof or coupe yet.

Ok I checked before I posted and now I went back and can't find them either. I'll look again tomorrow though.

You know I have the same concerns finding parts for my 72 coupe. I have owned it for almost 3 years and still find that ebay and swap meets are the beeter sources of parts for these mustangs. However I have also seen in the past 3 years that aftermarket parts companies are starting to realize the market for parts for the big mustangs. They are begining to bring more parts and accessories to the market for us. Like some of the other posts have said more parts will continue to become more available in the coming years. It is hard to fight the I want it now mentality but in time we will get the parts we need. Probably one of the best things we can do as owners of the 71-73 mustangs is keep prodding the companies to increase their offerings for our cars. Eventually they will listen.

If you prod them to make the parts, make sure to buy them after they do.

Keep in mind you are comparing aftermarket parts availability to probably the single most popular car ever made, the 65-70 Mustang. Talk to the Maverick guys, or the Galaxie guys, or the AMC guys and you will hear worse tales of hardship.

All it takes to get this market going is money and the confidence by the people with it that they will get a return on there investment. Looking at the number of 71-73 Mustangs at shows and in the want ads, I am not sure that will ever pan out for them.

There is a reason a 72 coupe is cheaper than a 66 coupe. Not as many people want em, and the parts are more scarce.

Yeah I know the big stangs aren't as popular as the early ones, but I'd think that they aren't so different as to make the big brake kits and other mechanical stuff (with the exception of steering systems) that much harder to design/make for them.

Dang if only I had money. Do you guys watch Dream Car Garage? This one company on there was redeveloping suspension components for the big dodge cars like the 70s chargers. They really went at them with the goal of developing suspension kits to make the cars handle as well as todays cars. They were pretty successful. If I had money I'd definatly do that for the 71 to 73s.

Stangdreamin those parts would directly bolt on your big cougar.
