need new dizzy...what to get?

You are having the same problem as me. I pmed you about it. I think we have too much carb on our motors or they need to be tuned better. My car will start on the first turn and then runs real rich and doesn;t want to idle.

Go to your local parts house, buy a rebuilt points :D DISTRIBUTOR :D and swap your pertronix unit into it. ( I hate the words dizzy and tranny also :damnit: ) If you can't spell it out, you can always abbreviate it. ( dist. , trans. )

Oh, and by the way, the points distributor with the small to large cap adapter fits under the oval aluminum air cleaner on the repop 3x2 Ford intake I have on my 331. It DOES rest on the Ford Racing wire boots, but I've yet to see it suffer any spark over from this.

Wow, first off, hip-hop, a form of music I despise and feel pains everytime I'm forced to call it music, ends words in izzle, such as fo' ****zle my nizzle. Not izzy.

Second, is it that hard to write out reproduction instead of repop when you're critical of people calling a distributor a dizzy or a transmission a tranny?

Third, why did the way some people choose to shorten words become so a big topic in this thread?

Fourth, D.Hearne's suggestion is the cheapest, though an MSD will likely make you happier in the long run.

Fifth, the gent with the mallory problem: you're the first I've ever heard with a Mallory problem.

Sixth, DUI is a good distributor also.

Seventh, I've got nothing.

hopefully the MSD distributor's for the carbed motors are better, but everyone i have talked to who used them on their EFI motor has had it **** then bed on them. IMO MSD Blows.

Umm...okay, have you actually used them yourself?

This is a disturbing opinion considering the fact that I've had bad luck with Mallory distributors. But, I agree with skywalker's thought that personal experiences carry more weight. As I stated in my earlier post, perhaps I just received a lemon in my Mallory Unilite distributor, and had I replaced it with another Unilite, all problems may have disappeared; I'll never know because I was so pissed that I vowed to myself that I'd never own another Mallory component.

With respect to you friends' issues with MSD distributors, however, could you be more specific? I specifically stated my problem with the Mallory distributor; every time it rained, my car wouldn't freakin' start! What sort of problems are you aware of with respect to MSD distributors?

A couple of years ago, I remember several people bashing Mallory. I've never heard anything bad about MSD DISTRIBUTORS but had a friend that had two 6A boxes crap out within a year. MSD replaced them free but never did figure out why they went bad.
