Need Nitto DR info

After switching over to 4.10's in my 98 cobra I quickly realized why so many are running DR's. I literally toated a set of pirelli P7000's (255's), then threw on a pair of half worrn GY F1's (275's but still no tractin thru second) and now they're at the wear bars. My front tires are still good and are the pirelli P7000's in 255. Since they are still okay I was thinking of putting on a set of 275-17 Nitto's on back and leaving the pirelli's up front. What front tires does everyone run in front since the 275's are too wide to fit in front--do you guys just run regular tires in front? Also, I like to drive fast on twisty roads and am concerned about how DR's stick around corners--do they handle of fold becasue of a soft sidewall? BTW I have 17 by 9 R's. Are there any other options? Has anyone tried to Yoko A032R's?

Run 275/40's front & rear.

I run 245/45's on my '97 (on the stock 8" wheels) with Nitto drags on the rear & Continentals up front. I also have them on my '91 (245/50R16) with stock size (225/55R16) Michelins up front.

They corner fine. You'll feel some difference from having two different types of tires front & rear, but nothing too extreme. Run them at 35psi on the street like any other tire.

A032R's are loud but stick & look great. If you're looking for full-on performance, I'd probably run those or something similar (Kumho Victoracer) on all four. Don't run the super-sticky street tires unless you can deal with shortened tread life & less-than-stellar wet handling.

I ran Nitto DR's for a while but took them off so I could pass inspection. They are definitely worth it, and handling and cornering felt better with the Nitto's compared to the stock Eagle F1's that I have on now. They stick good, get em.

Hey man if you have 17 x 9's then I would run 315 Nitto DR's in the back and 255 or 275 nitto 555r's in the front. Its a great look and those 315's will hook up when they get hot.

Thanks guys-- Will 315's fit on 17 by 9 cobra R's--has anyone tried? Also will 275's fit up front with H&R supersport springs installed, I was told neither of these combo's by the guys at chicane motorsports.

pass inspection???? you have to take off your DR's for smog?

yea, pretty much all of the 03 cobra guys are on 315's, on my stock 8" 98 rims the 275's are beefy, go with the 315's and they will look sick.

I wouldn't go wider than 275 on a 9" rim, but I'm a minority there. I don't always believe bigger is better; too wide a tire results in too much sidewall movement in everyday driving & cornering (I also believe fat tires stuffed on to too narrow a wheel looks way ghetto). Not many people want to face up to it, but it is possible to get too wide a tire onto a given wheel width. If you go to 315's in the rear, pony up for a pair of 10.5" wheels.

You can get some rubbing issues with 275's on R's up front, but not enough to keep from doing it, IMO. There is a big hump in the LF plastic fenderwell liner to cover up a portion of wiring harness that can rub. I run the standard Street H&R's & will go to a 275 once I get 9" wheels.

Yes they will fit, lots of 03 guys are doing this. The Nitto 315 is not as wide as lets say the BFG 315, and will look really good with those rims.

make sure it's the "R" series nittos.

Nitto 555's hook like butter.
The 555R's hook nicely.

Anyone have pic.s of nitto 315 d/r's on 17x9 wheels? Much bulge?

I think they bulge too much, but that's my opinion.
They don't cause any "wobbling" (which is usualy what hapens when you jerk the wheel with tires that are too wide for the rims.

I'm prolly gonna go 305.
If they had a 295, it would be prefect for me.

The reason I had to take them off for inspection was because of the fact that they were too worn out to pass. That's what I meant when i said I took them off for inspection. Inspection is not smog either, that'd be emissions. But I'm sure that's what you meant. We just got emissions up here starting this past January so my x-pipe is coming off (temporarily).
