Need opinions on motor

I've got a 72 Pinto I've been thinking about messing around with. Right now, it has a rod-knocking 2.0 with a C-5 auto. I was thinking about building a simple 2.5 just for fun, but I want to keep it cheap. I had plans for a turbo, but I can fuel inject it later if I want. Any idea on how a really mild 2.5 would run in a Pinto weighing 2200lbs? Though it's not a Mustang, anyone know if a Mustang II pedal assembly would work if I wanted to go with a 5-speed?

Would you be starting this 2.5 off a new 2.3L block? A 2.5 isn't TOO hard or expensive to build out of a 2.3, you can get a ranger crank, rods, and pistons and get some of Esslinger's bearing inserts that let you run it on an earlier "big journal" 2.3 block. If you kept it carbed, did some head work, got a good intake and header and all that, it should run pretty good in a pinto. I don't know about making a 2.5 out of a 2.0 though...2.0's seem to have a fairly limited parts availability outside of stuff for racing.

The 2.0L was a European motor. IIRC it is used in Formula Ford but part are not cheap and I dont think that motor is being supported anymore.

The biggest stroker kit was a 2.3L kit that Esslinger used to sell but Im not sure if they still offer it.

Racer Walsh carries forged 2.5L pistons if you want to turbo it, the rest go with what Red LX said.

If you still want to run a carb, the EFI intakes flow better than most anything on the market so Racer Walsh sells a adapter to mount a Holley 2300 series 350cfm/500cfm carb on the EFI intake.

Big carb and lots of nitrous on a built 2.5 stroker (forged, etc) with a decent T5 or a C4 behind it should move pretty well.

I forgot to mention that I didn't want to use the 2.0 in it right now. Would it be better to use a 2.3 and stroke it to a 2.5 or just go ahead and get a 2.5 in the first place?
