Hey guys I noticed a little bit of brake noise coming from my left front wheel so I went and looked at it and it's got two deep ass grooves worn in it, I checked the brake pads about two months ago and they looked brand new, but I guess you learn from your mistakes. Well I guess it's time to upgrade the brakes, what pads and rotors do you guys suggest, I'm thinking of getting slotted ones but I'm not sure of what brake pads to go with.

Since we have convertible's we need all the help we can get when it's time to stop our cars...

I like Sloted only rotors (controls brake dust more than anything) along with some cermaic pads. The Hawk stuff doesn't last a long time so I try to stay away from it.

If you have some money, it would be a good time to invest in upgraded brakes... but, then again that is a lot of money to spend.

Better tires will also help (stickier tires that is)

On the cheaper end of the spectrum, I have had good luck with the PFC pads - not much more than semi metallic pads. I have NOT used them on a stang though (I will though).

Good luck.

no worries, i just hear everyone saying im getting slotted rotors and pads, and was wondering if they really make a noticable diff, as you can tell ive upgraded everything cept for the brakes and well, you guys know it doesnt want to stop so much...... Go is no problem, but stop is.

im getting bigger breaks ofcourse but for the mean time i was gonna buy a set, but mine just seem to lock up right away make sense or no

The stock brake setup on the Fox cars is crappy for sure.... If you can get the tires to lock up than you are doing better than most.

The problem comes when you are braking on the threshold of lockup. This is where the brakes build heat and warp stock rotors. This is also the spot where you can slow your car down the fastest. Pretty much the only way to increase the heat dissipation is by brake ducting or larger brake parts (aftermarket kits, etc.)

The slotted rotors / soft pads don't really do anything for heat dissipation.
