Ok well sure most of you have read my threads and seen i been having some trouble with my car... I have a lowerend knock and my heatercore is gone.. So my dad tells me he'll spend 2k to get a new block from Ford with a warranty, or give me 1k to invest in another car.. Im so confused lol.. i put alot of work into my car just to throw it away and get sumthing new.. but im tired of doing all this work and cant get it running right!!.. neways i got a guy who says he'll by my car off me for 700.. i paid 500 for the egine/rear/tranny/wiring... then spent 200 on oil pan, new motor mounts, and u/d pulleys.. and sepnt 200 on getting the exhaust done.. so i dont think its worth it but like i said im tired of workin on it.. So i could take the 1k from my dad and that 700 plus whatever else i got and get another 5.0 right? my friend said he'll sell me his 92 black 5speed notch for 2500.. or i got another guy who wants to sell me his 87 gt witha sunroof for 1700.. it just neeeds a paint job..But neways would it be worth it to pull the whole engine again and use a fresh block with a warranty so if nething goes wrong ill be covered?? or should i just invest in something else?? another question i had does neone know what other engine/block i can get for around 2k with a warranty of some kind?? any advice is appreciated!

alright man, i've dealed **** like this plenty-a time, and it always ends like this... you get everything sorted out and going good until another wave of problems hits you at full speed. remember, if it's not this... it's something else... and whatever can go wrong will. belive me, i've been in your shoes, and have a slightly sweet reliable car is a lot better than having a sweet ass car that makes you thank god every time it starts up... but it is all up to you, belive me though, im on my 3rd 5.0 in 8 months, and i'll be turning 17 in sept. so good luck with al that man, thats all i can say...

Youre gonna get 2k to fix the motor?!?! I don't know what kind of shape the body is in but if it's reasonable, I'd be all over 2g's! You could make that work real respectable-like! TAKE THE CASH!!! (the 2g's) Of course.....IMO

If you keep the car, you'll at least know what you've got. Whats been fixed, what's half-ass repaired, etc. With a new car/different car, who knows....
All you've got is somebody's word, which in today's world doesn't mean much...
Stick with your car, you at least know what won't go wrong in 6 weeks....

thats not up to us dude... none of us know the condition of your car or the condition of the other cars you mentioned, but if i were in your shoes, given this information,

ID GET THE 2 GRAND

you could get a sweet setup with that cash, and totally take care of that lower end knock... as for the heater core, i dunno wut the weather's like where u live, but just bypass the SOB.

PERFORMANCE REBUILD!!!!!!!!!!!
Get some nive iron gt-40 or thumper heads.
cobra or simlilar intake
nice cam to go with it.
be sure to upgrade the Valvetrain, get some nice RRs, make sure to get valve springs for gt-40 heads, the thumpers have new springs already.

rebuild the bottom end with some higher compression pistons.

2000 could take car of this easily
Or rebuild and find a deal on a cheap SC and bolt that on.

with everything else you have your car will be a beast!

Don't dump your car and get another bucket. You at least know what the issues are with your car instead of picking up another and waiting for everything to fall apart again. Get your engine rebuilt from a good machine shop. No need to go all out and buy another whole engine so save your money for another bump in the road.

there's several ways you could go about it, but as long as the motor hasn't already been overbored, you could just have everything reconditioned, cleaned, and reassembled...

we did the same thing with my friends 88 LX vert, had to get the crank ground, rods resized, installed new bolts, cleaned the pistons, balanced the assembly, and had the block honed, cleaned, with new cam brgs and freeze plugs. All that ran $800 and change...that's from one of the more expensive machine shops in town. Then all he had to buy was gaskets, rings, and bearings. Whatever you manage to keep from the 2k, use it toward other things

...but if your car is as nice as you say, I'm with Foxfan and Sicarius take the $2k, and get your engine fixed up with some goodies, 2k should be able to get buy you a set of 40's or 40P's even, on top of a freshened up engine-the wala, you've got a strong reliable runner...
