I found a 2002 Rousch stage one for $15,900 with only 6K miles. I know it is not an SVT, but I was hoping for some opinions and advice about whether this would be a decent purchase. I would love an '03 Cobra, but at this point, too much out of my price range. Any advice on an '02 Rousch stage one???

The stage 1 is just a GT (or sometimes a V6) with some cosmetics and lowering springs. I'd choose any year of Cobra over it. I picked my 99 Cobra over an 02 GT back in 2002, and I'm very glad I did. Not only is the Cobra faster, but there's just something nice about owning an SVT.

Mr. Sanchez speaks the truth yet again.

Man, if you got 16 large to throw out at somebody, I'm betting that in a major metro area like Chicago you shouldn't have a whole 'lotta trouble finding a '99 4-valver that somebody would wheel-and-deal with 'ya.

Here's the Edmunds readout for a 1999 Cobra coupe in OUTSTANDING condition (I used a black one with 40K miles for an example):

Trade-in Pvt Party Dlr Retail

Base Price $9,988 $11,827 $13,741

Optional Equipment $194 $229 $296

Color Adjustment $-57 $-68 $-79

Regional Adjustment $-131 $-155 $-180

Mileage Adjustment $926 $926 $926

Condition Adjustment $623 $704 $837

Total $11,543 $13,463 $15,541

I test drove a Stage II before I bought mine, and all joking aside, they're nice cars..... side-exit exhaust, Alcon brakes and all.
But, Dude........
Might be worth lookin around a little first............ 'ya know what I mean ?

It's just a GT with the Roush handling package, ground kit, side exhaust and interior...maybe a better tune...If it were a Stage III with the supercharger it would be worth it IMO...

So I called today to go and test drive the Rousch Mustang, and I must admit that I am glad that it was already sold. I liked it, but I know if I bought it I would regret it the first time I took off from a red light. I'm just gonna wait till the end of summer and try to pick up either an '01 Cobra or '03 Mach 1- depending how much I can find an '03 Cobra for- that would be the ultimate selection.

Where was it located? If they give decent trade in values I could be onto that one.
