fuel gauge and engine temp gauge aren't working on my dash. The battery voltmeter, speedo\odo, rpm's are working fine. What could be the problem for this. 1991 2.3L LX Hatch. Thanks.

This could be the instrument voltage regulator. Its a small module behind the gages that makes 5 volts out of 12 for the oil pressure, gas gage and water temp gages. At least on older cars, like my 79 and 82. I think the gage circuits are still pretty basic on the 91, but I have not checked my 89.

No, i haven't taken out the instrument cluster. It was working fine earlier in the year. Then it started to act up; sometimes it would work, and other times it wouldn't. Now it's completely stopped working. I guess I'll have to take a closer look at it tomorrow. My brother drives it, while I wheel around the 1990 Taurus. I work first shift and he works second, so I haven't had much time to look at it. Thanks for all the help though.
