Need some help on my 67

I have a 67 GTA coupe that I have just purchased. I have finally found the car that I sold in high school. I am ready to get to work but need a little (or a lot of help). I have new pans and rails But I need some reference on how to install them. Does anyone know where I can look.

I just want to make sure that I do everything just as it should be. I have attached all the pictures that I have. These are the pictures that I took when I picked up the car.

car looks good, you will need a mig welder to get the floors in right.

I agree... we need another picture. My frame rail had NO rust in it at all.... I just cleaned the dirt from it and sprayed some black paint in there for added protection.

Get us some more pics and we will be glad to offer an opinion.

Ok from looking a little closer. I will have to replace some parts of the subframe on the driver’s side. I am not sure about the pass side. It does feel solid. But I guess that if I am doing one side I might as well do the other. I have attached all the pictures.

Any and all opinions would be great.

Both sides are GONE!. You will probably need the toe board patch on the driver side, (possibly pass side too). Remove those seat pans and you will probably see the metal under there is bad. You might as well do the full length pans for both sides. The cross member might be saved, but check it closely.

I might even look closely into the driver side rocker panel. You might find some there. With the fenders off, check the area behind the fenders under the cowl, especially near the top where the cowl comes together.

Lastly and most imporantly will be the cowl vents. They are the cause of the problem and are going to be just as bad.

Overall, you have some work and you will encounter more as you dig deeper into the sheetmetal. Have you looked in the trunk and wheel houses yet?

The rear wells are gone. The guy I bought it from gave me two full floor pans and floor to firewall extensions plus the subframe parts that go under the pans. He also gave me both the rear wells. So I have most of the parts already just need to figure out what else I need.

I was thinking of not using the two full pans and just get one full pan. I figure that if have have to replace both sides I might as well replace the whole thing.

Looks like I am in for a lot of work and my wife and I are getting a new house WITH A PULL BARD STARTED just needs to be completed. Now I have a shop(or soon will).

Once I get started I will post all the progress some where. I figure it will take me 5 years to complete. Becouse I believe it will be a full rebuild. But it will be worth it.

I cant wait to get started!!

Just do you homework and plan it out. The entire floor pans are available but it depends on what you want out of the car. If you are going for a full MCA style resto, then you can do the entire floor. If you are going to drive it, enjoy it, then the floor pans are good enough.

Be careful if you remove the entire floor and subframe sections without adding support or you might not get the doors, etc to fit when you are done and if you have welded everything in place... you are screwed.

You might have to check the quarter lips and trunk drop down sections. Those normally go much before the wheel house. At least all of it available now.

Take care in the toeboard section, and rockers (as mentioned before) Especially if you are going to go for a full pan and a rocker replacment... much of the structure of the car will be removed.

Take your time, enjoy it and it will work out for you. I had planned on a 1.5 year plan, but I am now on 2.5 years. I have had a baby born, a house purchase and now possibly a new house purchase... so it all takes time.

I would go with the full pans, Out of my entire car the floorpans are my least favorite job, it doesnt help that it was well over 110 in my shop when i did it.

Kinda brings back memories. I had a 67 GTA coupe way back in the early 70's when I was in high school too. I wish I could find my car like you did but I know it would be next to impossible. Good luck on your restoration and keep us posted on the progress.

I believe I may be able to do the same kind of patching that he did around the torque box and frame rails. I have not had a chance to look at the cowl yet.
