I was out taking the car for a little ride today. About 20 mins. into the ride I start to smell something like burning rubber. I pull over and notice some smoke coming from the drivers front wheel well. I take a 16oz. bottle of spring water and throw it over the rotor and caliper. It was SCALDING hot. I baby the car home another half mile and soak the rotor and caliper with a hose for about 5 mins. I'm guessing that the caliper might have frozen stuck and the pads were dragging creating that awful smell??? Any ideas what would cause this to happen? Keep in mind, I don't drive the car hard at all. It really only gets driven 10-20 times all year. The entire brake system was overhauled 3 years ago. The rotors and calipers were replaced, the M/C was replaced, all the pads were replaced, and the entire system was bled and purged of air. Any ideas? Keep in mind that the car is a Saleen, so it has the 4 wheel disk set-up from a Lincoln Mark VIII. I just pulled the drivers front wheel, and it seems to turn OK???? Could the caliper reset itself as it cooled? How should I proceed? I'm just not sure what caused it to lock up in the first place and how I can trace the problem.
