Ok about to install the new engine with the specs found in my sig. I am making up a check sheet of all the things to be done for the install. Add what you see missing.
5quarts dino oil
1Gal rad fluid
8 Champion plugs (recomended by Edelbrock for their heads)....gaped at .54??
Motor goes in first with cherry picker and matted to tranny.
Motor mount tightened.
Injector orings lubed and placed in fuel rail and rail replaced into position.
Hook up fuel rails..bolt down fuel rails.
injector harness hooked up and all coresponding sensors.
battery replaced and hooked up.
Turn on and off ignition several times to inspect for fuel leak.
install upper and vac lines/ coolant lines.
Fill rad to top.
fill engine 5qts dino oil.
pull distributor and run drill in reverse on pump shaft to prime system untill oil comes out rockers and pushrods.
Turn crank by hand two revs back to TDC.
replace dist.
install spark plugs.
start engine..listen watch..
Ok this is my check list add any tips you can think of for me...Thanks guys,
Derek.

You'll need more than a gallon of coolant. Maybe a gallon of antifreeze - and another gallon or two of distilled water - doesn't have the minerals in it that tap water does. Your dist. stab description is lacking in detail - you know what you're doing there? Has to be tdc #1 cylinder on the compression stroke (there are 2 tdc's for each complete combustion cycle - the crank turns around twice for every distributor rotor rotation). I recommend hooking up the exhaust system (headers on before you stick the engine if you can) before you crank. The noise of open headers can mask noises the engine might make right after start up. Also, wouldn't hurt to have a buddy crank the engine over a time or two (socket wrench) while you're priming the oil system -- that will let oil get to all internal passages.

Quite sure I s will get no better advice than yours Mike..I should have indicated yes the LT's will be put in place prior to start, actually all systems will be in place prior to start up so I can take the initial cruise if all goes well during initial startup and warm up. The Turning of the crank during priming is A1 and finding TDC is not an issue that will be overlooked. I anticipate no problems internally as the builder is a well credited man, but I do worry as I'm sure you can understand when you have invested your hard earned money in something like this I guess I find the approach of better safe then sorry is best. I have always found this and the Corral an wonderful forum for info and that is why I encourage you to give input as to steps to be taken.
Thanks for your time,
Derek.

the injector o-rings go on the injector, not in the fuel rail...at least I put mine on the injectors. Replace any broken pintle caps (caps on bottoms of injectors), but if they aren't broken, don't mess w/ it..you can slide the o-rings over the caps...the caps are hard to get off and on w/o breaking.

I'd go back through and make sure all hose clamps are tight and all that before I start it up.

You'll probably have to set fuel pressure.
