Need some opinions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My current setup is 26x11.5x15 ET streets on 15x10 weld rims. With the headers and the race tune I think I'm making close to 400hp now. I'm looking at getting new slicks this season and I was looking for some opinions. Should I switch to 28x10.5x15 drags add tubes and screws? I have 4.10 gears and at Woodburn last season I was hitting the rev limiter before the finish line. Also in the 1/8 mile I was having to shift into 4th. I was thinking if I switch to 28 drags I might ge betther 60 foot times and not have to shift into 4th in the 1/8th and would stay off the rev limiter in the 1/4 in 4th gear. I first got the ET streets cause I wanted to drive it on the street but now this car is a track only car. Thanks for the help!

Nate

What are you 60'ing? Do you have a built rearend?

If you don't have a built rearend and your launching hard, which it looks like you are, I would look into that for one thing.

A taller tire would help you out if you don't want to take out the 4.10s but it will only help you out so much. Where are you hitting the rev limiter at? I was hitting it (6700 limit) at or before the 1000' mark so I just put in 3.73s to give me room to play. If you your only hitting it slightly before the line and you dont plan on going any faster this year I would do the smaller tires. If your hitting it around the 1000' mark or plan on making more power this year I would do a set of 3.73s.

I havn't been back to the track since I did the 3.73s so I can't tell you if I lost anytime from them or not but the car doesn't feel much different than the 4.10s. PLus even if it did hurt my time I have a T-Trim now to make up for it.

My best 60' to date is a 1.60 and I have a fully built rearend. I'm hitting the limiter at 6300 rpm just before the end about 100 feet I would guess.

Thats a pretty good 60', 2.5 seconds better than me LOL and I really dont see you improving your 60' any more with the power your making. Since your only hitting the rev at 100'~ before the line a taller tire would be enough to get by. Like I said though if you plans are to make the car faster, which it prolly is, I would look into 3.73 gears to give you some room to grow.
