i have no access to a shop vac, and was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to clean the lifter valley and what to do in the event of droping a little dirt in the intake port.have to go to the airport thurs and have to work at 5 tomarrow so i need to get it done tomarrow morning (i will be taking my dads truck to work so i can let everything cure) and what kind of silicone do i need to use, i have the blue rtv stuff, will that work????

since you dont have a shop vac first blow out the intake ports with air compresor then wipe the living hell out of the valley with a rag. something else you can do is pull the oil plug and rinse out the valley with diesel fuel.

as for the gaskets i generally cut off the nipples on the cork and put a bead of silicone on the four corners and a very thin film on the waterports. for that i mostly use black ultrablack or ultra blue, i dont think the blue stuff likes water very well

im gonna have to change the oil anyway becuse water got in it...i draind most of the radiator but still a little water was in the manifold, but its all good i got like 7 qrts. of oil out there and a filter, ive got about a thou. miles left before i need to change it but what the hay, why not get it dont and get it flushed am i right?
