Alright Ill try to keep it short, but I just recently bought my wife a 2012 Mustang COA edition which comes with a V6 and in this case a 6 speed standard transmission. Problem is my wife has never learned to drive stick, and while she did alright with the 5 speed, the 6 speed seems to be giving her problems. That and we live near San Diego CA so the population is as dense as it could possibly get... not a good situation to learn in, and I really cant keep taking time off to drive her somewhere. Basically what I am trying to accomplish is swapping out the manual for an auto, however keeping the manual components for use in case of any warranty related instances. I am mechanically inclined and am also in the military so I have a facility with plenty of tools and lifts at my disposal and plan to do everything on my own. So far what I've gathered from previous experience is that I am going to need an auto tranny, auto driveshaft or at least segment that connects to the tranny, auto ECU, wire harness, auto shifter assembly, auto pedal assembly, and possibly gauge assembly if it doesnt match the manual one (ive seen this in previous projects). Ive already contacted several salvage yards that say they have the particular transmission I need in stock, I just need all of your help to fill in the missing small (or big if ive left anything out) pieces to complete this swap. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank all of you.
Oh, and yes, I attempted to use the search function. It yielded one result, however the individual who started it wasn't very serious about the operation, and the answers provided weren't too helpful either.
Also... I understand that I could trade this in and get an auto, or I could sell it and all that trash. I am dedicated to this, if i cannot accomplish this task then she will learn to drive a 6 speed, I'm not too worried about the money but am not looking to buy expensive aftermarket race spec parts either. Generously put, I can do without the "trade it in", "sell it", or "that's a waste of money" comments. I appreciate the concern, but like I stated, I am dedicated. Plus I love this kind of stuff.
