Need to protect FRPP temp gauge from exhaust heat?

I recently installed the frpp thermostat in my 04 gt. I installed the sender unit on the driver side of the block towards the back of the block. This location is extremely close to the header and worries me so in an attempt to protect it, I ran it in that plastic flex hose which immediately melted (haha) so now I am concerned that the hose for the gauge itself will melt as well. I did notice some after market temp gauges that had copper with a wire wrapping around it but Fords is a thick plastic hose. I guess there is a copper tube inside it as well. Should I be concerned about this hose for the sender unit melting at all? If so, does anyone know of a quick fix? I have been to Oreilly's and AutoZone and have found nothing. One guy gave me some exhaust wrap but it requires heat to bond/seal an exhaust leak and doesn’t seem to be the right part for the job. Please advice, Thanks
