Looks like my ignition coil & wires need replacing (tip of the coil looks like it's been eaten up). Gonna do a full tune up. What's a good stock replacement coil & what spark plugs/wires do yall recommend?
Also, anyone ever try Summit's coil? (looks like the MSD) http://store.summitracing.com/partd...908331+4294840126+4294908282+115&autoview=sku

Someone on here was going to run a Summit coil (Ernan maybe? Someone had a thread askin about it and people who had used it). If I were buying new, I'd do like Guero said and get a stock coil or Crane (or Summit, etc if people like it).
I like Autolites too. I run 24's, but as Guero said, 25's are what are called for.
Make sure your coil wire fits on the end of the new coil really tight. A loose connection will cause the coil's contact to get all eaten up.
Good luck.

I've got the MSD coil - been running it for 2yrs w/ no problems. I do have my stock coil in my shed in case the MSD lives up to its name (Might Suddenly Die).

Clean out the PCV filter, new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, new fuel filter, clean the mass air sensor, re-verifying the base timing...all of this will wake up a car.

I run the Accel coil. 29k miles no problems yet...
Oh and I also use the Autolite 24's. BUT after 20k miles they were pretty eroded and needed to be regapped at minimum. I chose to just put new ones in.

msd coil (also running msd dizzy, 6a box, and cap/rotor), motorsport wires and ngk plugs.. thats my setup. i've heard bad things about msd coils too. my friend had one going bad and it was still throwing good spark but wasnt efficient. he replaced everything. the car still ran but ran like ****. he even changed intakeds cause he thought the one he had was too big. i took the msd coil off and put a stock one on and it fixed it. so if i were going to buy a coil i would take that into consideration. only reason i have it cause i have everything else msd

I'm about the same - new rebuilt distributlor, MSD coil like I said, Taylor 8.2 wires, MSD cap/rotor and Autolite 25s @ .050.
Had FRPP wires until one of them got squished somehow on the tranny swap. Went with the Taylors this time around and am super impressed - "popping" in radio gone and the fit is MUCH better. The psychadelic blue color I got them in has got to be like 20rwhp too!

OK I'm gonna run the Ford wires, Autolite 25 plugs, & MSD cap & rotor. Not gonna get the MSD coil, but what yall think of these two coils below? Is the voltage difference an issue?
Jeg's $32.99 with 49,000 volts http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stor...irect&categoryId=20979&parentCategoryId=10681
or
Summit's $29.95 with 40,000 volts http://store.summitracing.com/partd...908331+4294908282+4294840126+115&autoview=sku

You will have better luck with copper or Iridium plugs than plat's. It's generally frowned upon to use Plats in an EFI 5.0.STREETFIGHTER50 said:Do you guys use autolites platinum ap-25 or double platinum app-25?
Good luck.
Autolite, Accell, no platinum??? What's the best recommendation then for a mostly stock motor then yall? I have to do this tonight? I have the motorsport wires & Summit coil already.

Yup, go with any of the standard plugs mentioned above... all will work great for what you've got.
