I may have found an 87 TC donor, or a potential running TC car.

Its an automatic. Is the 87 turbo setup different than the 86 I got last month? Stuff looks different under the hood.

Will the 86 TC 5 speed setup bolt into the 87?

Is the turbo A4LD any tougher than a plane 2.3 unit? (Does it have a looser converter, maybe?)

Thanks.

Somehow, sometime I'm going to have a 2.3 turbo something.

Don't forget to swap in the 8.8" Turbo Coupe axle with rear disk brakes!

An '87 has an IHI turbo & top mount intercooler, along with a serpentine belt setup and dual fans on the radiator. Other than that it should have mostly the same hardware as the '86, i.e. brown top injectors and the like. Yes, the '86 5 speed will bolt up behind the '87 engine, just make sure you use the right bellhousing.

I'm a little fuzzy on this, I don't remember much about this '86 you're referring to...what was wrong with it?

Looks like it may have a title, and when it does, I'll buy it. Kind of out of character for me, to buy one that runs....

The car looked saveable, if enough of the 86 stuff fits.

May have an 86 donor for sale here soon.

The 86 had the turbo oil feed line unhooked. It turns over, but has not run yet. May be awhile before I get to it.

The 87 starts and runs, barely, and drove on and off the trailer. It has a blown head gasket, or some other major coolant leak. Pretty sure its a head gasket as the oil looks funny. But at least it will run. Guy actually advertised it as non running.

Both are black with cloth interiors. The 87 seems to have the most promise.
