So, I bought a 65

It has a brand new FMX tranny on it, but when they added that tranny, they left the neutral safety switch just wrapped around a support under the hood.
I am having little luck finding a photo on the web of how this should be assembled.

Anyone have a photo or a thorough description of how thie needs to be attached to the transmission?

Last I knew 65's only came with a C4. NSS mounts on the shift lever where it goes through the case. Should be 2 bolt holes on the case and the switch should have 2 corresponding slots for adjustment.

The FMX neutral switch is located under the shifter housing insde the car. The Haynes manual shows how to adjust. It was not the stock transmission in '65. Only the C4 was used then. The FMX cames sometime after '67 when the steering column lock was added.

hmmm

Well,

I will take a look at it. I have the B&M Shift kit and it doesn't look like the neutral safety switch will attach to it. I may have to rig something. I need this thing to pass inspection, and tyeh are sort of big on having the reverse lights come on. :)

New York allows a seperate switch to be installed for reverse lights. The inspection criteria just states that they have to work, not necessarily from the gearshift. Check what your state rules.

Still having no luck.

A previous post said I could somehow hook the neutral safety switch to the shifter itself. I have attached thumbnails of what I have to work with, and I don't see a way that it will work.

Any creative ideas?
