Whats up,

I recently sold my R1 motorcycle to buy an 04 Gt . I have about 700 miles on my car as of now and I was wondering what exhaust and setup to go with. Do I need to break the car in before putting an exhaust on it?....From what I have looked at so far I would like to put an H pipe on the car with no cats and either a Mac cat back system or 40 series flowmasters. I dont know what brand of H pipe I should go with..I was thinking BBK.. I think I am also going to put a MAC cold air intake on the car. I am looking for any suggestions on different setups and any ideas would be appreciated. I dont have tons of money so right now a supercharger is out of the question..maybe down the line though..

One thing I was wondering about is when going with a pipe without cats how to pass the emissions test in Maryland. I dont know if any of you run into a problem with this but if so let me know what I can do.... I know there is a BBK kit to keep the engine light from coming on inside the car but I dont know if this will work for passing the emissions test.

Thanks for your advice

Just say yes to an X-Pipe. :nice: I love mu UPR X-Pipe. Just say no to the MAC CAI! :notnice:

Hey

I'm in the process of getting an 04 GT too and I asked my Ford dealer about putting on a CAI and they said it would void the engine warranty. And from what I hear on the forums here all we need to do is take off the air silencer and a drop in K&N air filter. Save money and stuff!

Ok well after looking around some more like you said I have decided to go with the UPR x pipe, and the 40 series flowmasters...as for the MAC CAI I think I will hold off and remove the restrictor and get a K and N filter...I guess I will just hold onto the stock pipe and reinstall it when it comes time for emissions unless I get a connection and then put the x back on as soon as it passes. anyone know where a soundclip of this set up can be found?

Thanks

I say skip the cai go with the x pipe and flowmasters I did and love the sound and the power increase. as far as I know you will have to swap your cats back in to pass emmisions. it will not pass with the x-pipe. Go to mustang exhaust.com they have hundreds of sound clips of all kinds of different exhaust set-ups. Dont waste money on a cai. They dont really produce any power and are expensive. you can build a inlet pipe from the maf to the throttle body with pvc pipe from home depot for around $8 dollars. then get a good free flowing aftermarket air filter. :nice:
