Progress Thread New 2004 Gt

Picked up an 04 GT black/dark charcoal 5sp coupe. Going to slowly refresh it and document along the way.

It's like a time capsule and was sitting for a while however was properly maintained. Straight body clean title and carfax. Picked it up for $2500. Bone stock down to the air box and mufflers. Plans are heavy detailing and tint then bolt ons along with some 1/4 runs. Great to be back!

Plans will be pretty standard approach to start. H pipe/cat back. Tune and air intake. Aluminum driveshaft. Pullies. Shifter. Eventually 3.73 gears and mild suspension work like control arms. From there who knows. Has 130k miles which is fine for 13 years but I'm not sure how much money I'll throw into it. I basically just want it to be a decent looking 12 sec car. I'm on the east coast and run at Cecil county with a DA of like -600 so it shouldn't take long to reach that goal.

Cleaned about as well as I could without a professional. Anyone looking to restore a rough black car try Turtle Wax black box, 20$ worked wonders and restored color depth, filled in many swirls and rock chips.

As it sits now I'm about $5000 into this car including $2500 purchase price, $800 inspection, headlights, new painted hood scoop, new interior door inserts, shorty antenna, window tint. Also had a few minor repairs and preventative maintenance including a rear pinion seal, new tensioner and idler pulleys and belt. Lastly I just added a K@N drop in, FRPP aluminum drive shaft and a MAC cat back exhaust.

Very happy with the car right now. I see many new edge GTs for sale anywhere from 5000-7000$ with the same miles (132K) and same interior and exterior condition so I feel good about the purchase, money, and work put in so far. Going to get some 1/4 mile numbers in November when it cools down.
