Hi all,

Just bought an impact blue 2015 GT a few days ago.

This is my first Ford, having owned many different performance cars (most recently coming from a 2008 BMW M3 with DCT transmission), and am excited to get into the Mustang scene.

Right out of the box i'm pleased with the performance of the 5.0, but I certainly foresee some mild modifications in the future.

Looking forward to chatting with everyone.

Gorgeous! The only car (of mortal means) that makes me feel like the Mustang does was the Mazda RX-8. I love that car. Quite different, but the back seat scenario is awesome in that thing. I am 6'-3" and I fit in the back seat.

Hey I just noticed that you said you came from a BMW M3. That is considered quite a high bar by many. How does the handling compare?

The M3 definitely had better stock suspension. Mine was optioned with EDC, which meant track-orientated hard suspension at the click of a button. I didn't really use it very often; on those rare occasions when I wanted to push the car through some corners it was a fun party trick.

Funny you should ask about the suspension differences, as I have already been drawing up a list of upgrades that I foresee happening to the Mustang. Top of the list is an aftermarket set of springs to drop the ride height a little and firm up the overall suspension feel. I need to do further research on the available options and see which direction I go with things. Overall though, I'm very impressed with the overall driving experience...Ford really did a stellar job with the latest generation of Mustangs!

I ask because I'm coming from Japanese sporty cars and have a certain idea of how I like a car to handle. Especially in corners with bumps. The solid rear axle always turned me off, although I still liked the Mustang and considered it many times. I have never driven once since the 05 redo, so I have no idea how they improved the rear suspension for the older cars, but the previous ones were not to my liking. Just looking at this new design I'm thinking it has to be much better, and I valued your opinion coming from a car such as the M3. No, I don't expect this thing to handle like an M3, but I do expect a lot. Just hard to really test it on a test drive. If stock is nice compromise of comfort and handling, should be harder than my Acura RL, then I think I should be happy. Thanks for your post.

I switched from a fiesta st which handled very well. The mustang handles well but feels heavy by comparison. I think once the tires are switched out it should feel better. I don't know why they thought it would be OK to put seasonal tires on a car with 435hp/400lbs tq.

Welcome to STangnet, come join us in the S550 section if you haven't already!

Thanks! It was the color that sold me on the car. I'd looked at other Mustangs on a different dealer lot, but when I saw this one I knew that was the color I wanted.

Funnily enough our next door neighbour just bought a 2016 Ecoboost in that Ruby Red color....that color also looks dazzling in the sun!
