New 306 is still wrapping/knocking...help me or shoot me

im still having this problem with my new dss 306 knocking...
if u need to kno other mods look at my sig...I have no idea whats going on..its insane....I have 1000 miles on it so far...I THOUGHT that it only started knocking when it was really hot , like over 205*..but it did it at 185 today....unbelievable...it comes and goes like rarely....I had it out like a bunch of days and nights since the last time it did it...and i thought it went away...it hasnt happened while cruising..., as soon as i slow down to a stop, or pull in my driveway, it started..its seriously sounds like somethning is slapping against the oil pan...and when u gas it, the sound gets faster, and louder! this sucks...
so you let it sit for like 5, 10 mintues..whatever...a couple of times it just faded away...today it didnt stop...i shut off the car for 5 mins...start it back up...and i get nothing!?! what does this sound like...
i probaly should have someone look at it..im done with messing around

i just dont understand cause it seems like its runs so nice? ughhhhh
y would it do it very rarely like that? and just fade from shutting off the car , waiting, and then starting it again?

How does the engine feel once it warms up/knocks? Is it strong, or does power really drop off? Also, if it's really "knocking" and not just making a ticking, you have a serious rod/main related problem there. My guess is you are having some sort of intermittent oiling problem where it is just getting starved for oil periodically. Draining your oil and checking for metal shavings would tell quite a bit.
BTW, how's your oil pressure?

oiling problem huh....i just thought of something...maybe for some UNKNOWN REASON...i need MORE oil...my dipstick says its where it should be, but...maybe for some reason its alittle off, or something in there is weird ...i dunno...but...if the oil is sucking up into the rest of the engine, and the pan is empty, would it cause a loud slappinp/knocking sound against the oil pan??? maybe it just needs more oil in there?
also it really doesnt feel like i loose any power when it warms up..and my oil pressure usually stays at a steady 50/60...when the knocking was going on, it was at alittl eunder 50 it looked like..40 maybe...if u rev it , it jumps up tho...
and when i pull the dipstick out, there is usually a small amount of little specs on the there...look like little tiny rocks. like grit sized. its not covered ..just like 3 or 4 very small grit like stuff....

well if u think it is low on oil change the oil and put in the specified amount of oil ussually 5 quarts unless you have an aftermarket pan then you will know that it is topped off and if the dip stick is off, also any grit in a engine is bad, and lastly how did you break in the engine when you got it running in the car.

dunno man but my g/fs dad's lumina is doing the eaxct same thing with the little rocks in the oil like you describe. If any one knows it would be of great help. Maybe try on corral.net too

Ya know, man. I've seen personally the same problem as you have, and it turned out to be the dipstick was a little bent or curved a little too much and the dipstick was hitting either a rod or journal on the crank making the knocking sound. First off, change your oil. 5.0s with dual sump pans take 5.5 quarts, not 5. Also, with 50-60 psi of oil pressure, you won't empty the pan. That's fine. Try the dip stick thing.. When you hear it knock, get out real quick, pop the hood and pull the dipstick out and see if it goes away. Also... go to your local parts store and get one of those screens that you put on yoru oil filter. They fit between the oil filter and block and will filter metal shavings before it goes into the oil filter, and after about 100 miles, pull just the oil filter and look at the little screen. See if you're getting any metal shavings. If you have them, call DSS and be on them like stink on **** to have them rebuild their motor that wasn't built correctly.

Also, your car can run a quart low as long as your not autocrossing. My old motor used to suck oil like none other, and when I'd go around a right hand turn, all the oil would push to the left hand side in the oil pan and the oil pressure gauge would go to zero then back up when I got straight. lol. And that would happen when I was a little over 2 quarts low. Just some insight. Hope this helps.

You can also just pull off the oil filter you're currently running on the car and cut the shell off with a hacksaw or something, then see if there are any metal shavings on the filter element.

You can do that, but by sawing a metal casing will give you metal shavings everywhere. Sorta inaccurate.

Check your torque converter bolts, if they are loose it will sound just like a rod knock and will come and go.

Yep, check the flywheel for cracks also. I seen/heard the exact same thing on a friends car that had a cracked flywheel. Hope this helps.
