Hey guys,
I just purchased my foxbody after years of searching for a clean one. Inhave a few questions, im not sure if they are issues or just how it is because of the performance. It has a rebuilt bottom end, gr 40 heads, cobra intake, letter cam b or e i believe, bolt ons etc... My question is when i start it cold, it seems to hunt for about 20 seconds before it equals out. Not that big of a deal maybe 1000-800 rpm. The car once warm seems to idle high it was at about 1000 rpm and i dropped it too 900 on adjustment. Does this seem to be accurate for a cam car?
Also the other concern is i have a low rpm buck in any of the gears... Not really engine related...but if i go too slow for the gear like under 1500 i will get like a thrashing buck sensation and can almost hear my tranny like bounce around, not sure how to explain. I believe it may just be an attribute of the engine being built anyways

Here is a
Video of it, very clean with mod list

See the "Surging Idle Checklist” for help with all your idle/stall problems. You can guess at the problem and throw parts at it, or you can use the checklist to help you find the problem quickly and inexpensively. The checklist is right here in the Stangnet 5.0 Tech forum and you don’t have navigate to some other unknown web site. It‘s free and doesn’t cost anything: at last count there were more than 103,000 visits and still climbing

The quick and easy way to dump the codes is in there too, and all you need to do it is a paper clip! The first two posts contain all the fixes & updates. At last count there were 24 possible causes and fixes for surging idle/stall problems. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions.

Thank you, is it safe to do this even when you have a cam and a built up motor?

I wouldn't have posted the link to the "Surging Idle Checklist” if it wouldn't work in your case. I don't get anything if you use it or don't use it, it's a free service to the Stangnet community. There are some tips about use with engines that have something other than the stock cam.

This is a troubleshooting problem and not an ECM tuning problem.

Thread moved to 5oh Technical Forum.

If you get to the point where you need assistance with the electronic tuning of your combo (i.e. TwEECer, Quarter Horse, PMS, etc.), then please hit us up in this forum.
