Hello,
Just picked up my 5.0 friday!!!1
This car has susp mods, axle back exh, CAI and tune, all done at steeda in florida.
I just ordered a set of American Racing Headers long tubes w/high flo cats and X-pipe. I ordered these from Hennessey performance (the viper guys)
he told me i may get an engine code from the high flo cats. He said the vipers, challengers ect... all gave codes. Does anyone have any experience putting headers on the new 5.0? Did you get a code?
I know the older cars you could get MIL elliminators to fix. Does any one know?

You'll need to tune the car with the LT's, so any good tuner should be able to eliminate whatever code pops up.

Hennessy?! check put my signature. Anyway yes you most likely will get a code depending on if your tuner is following the rules. Federal law as of late mandates the rear o2's not be turned off therefore you will get a code due to the free flow from the headers, so if your tuner follows the law your stuck. HOWEVER I have A.R.H. long tubes on my Mustang (of course) but I'm working on O2 sensor de-foulers that will cure the problem, I'm actually going to install them on my car tomorrow.

Hello
thanks for the info. guys,
SPARTA, please let me know what you come up with.
I saw an article in 5.0 mag or fast fords? They put a set of stainless works headers on with NO tune and got 32 HP. They did not mention getting a code.
I was going to go with stainless works but found the ARH for $100 less.
Do you know how they all compare?
ARH, KOOKS, STAINLESS WORKS?

They're all great. I'm partial to ARH because everything they use for raw materials is 100% U.S.A. made most importantly also have great fit and finish. They're also a great bunch of guys and being that they're local and I visit them from time to time I see how great their customer service is.

I installed the o2 de foulers in and so far in a day of driving no check engine light. I'm planning to drive her through the rest of the weekend, if everything goes well I may start production of them sometime around 1st week of December.

Cool, good luck with them. I will probably be needing a set. I would want them before I install the headers. Cant have the wife see a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HEHE!
Are these anything like the MIL eliminators used on the 4.6 2v. I have a brand new set of those I never used. Do they work the same way?

No, these defoulers keep the rear O2 sensors functional for emission's testing, they just reduce the excess flow from the headers, so provided your tune is on the money you'll be good to go.

We sell Kooks here at Steeda, 304 aircraft quality stainless steel, hand-welded right in North Carolina. You'd be looking at about 1600.00 for the set, we have seen up to 35 rwhp gains. As far as tuning goes, the 2011 model have a live wire system from the factory. So, the car is able to adapt to air/fuel changes a little better then the previous years. We still like to send out new tunes with the LTs, but it doesn't actually require it, the 5.0s haven't been kicking codes. Because, you have a Steeda tune already, if you wanted to purchase a set through us it would be a free tune update.

Thanks, but I'v already gotten the ARH longtubes. I think I stole them for 1,330 w/catted x-pipe. shipped! Im waiting for an oppertune time to use my budys lift.
I might be interrested in getting a tune though. I beleive my car has the 93 tune on it now, done at steeda in florida. I have the SCT tuner w/the steeda tunes on it, but have never used one of these things.
Id be interrested in whatever changes to be done to make the best of the header setup. you can pm me with any info on the tune.
thanks, jim

Just call Steeda and ask for Todd, I would be more than happy to get you taken care of. It is only 65.00 for a new tune.

Well, here I am just sitting on these brand new headers I bought. I was planning on using my buddys lift to do the job and install my steeda shifter and the watts link I just bought all at the same time. My friend owns a motorcycle shop that he had a lift put in to. Now I found out he got rid of the lift!!!!
I didnt plan on having to pay for someone to install all this stuff, I like doing it myself, i dont trust just anyone working on my car and dont want to spend the $$$$$$ to do what I wanted to do myself. At the same time, im 54 years old, and I cant see myself laying in the gravel, car on cinderblocks putting in these headers!
Looks like I have no choise, It'l take days to do what I could have done in a few hours. Guess I have to wait till next spring!

I always thought a good business would be to setup a couple of lifts and rent time by the hour or some other chunk of time...
