New belt sqeeling... only at odd times...

Well, Its been a while since I have been on here. I'll give a little background before I get to my question.

Last year, I got a used manual rack to put on my car. Installed easy and works great. I left my p/s pump in place to keep the same belt routing as to not need a new belt. I cut all the p/s pump oil lines and it was just acting as a pulley. I knew it was not going to last forever, but it worked ok for a while. Then the day came when the pump seized.. haha. I knew it would happen, so I ordered an A/C delete bracket from summit.

Got it, installed easy. After getting a belt too long, then a belt too short. I got a 60" belt and it fit ok. now to my question, the belt will be fine all day of driving. It might sqeal a bit on start up sometimes..... but once it gets dark, its sqeels like a bastard. I don't know if its the cold or what but the sqeeling is crazy. It will go away if I get off the gas, but any throttle it will start..

Any pointers will be greatly appreciated!!

Heres a couple shots(sorry for the quality)

Only drive it on even starts. :D

Check pulley alignment with a good straight-edge.

You noted it squeals more at night. Two variables I see there: one is that the belt and pulleys are colder. And the alt has more resistance. Try starting it and turning on the lights during the day to see if it's the E-load or the temps that correlate to squealing.

In any case, alignment is a likely issue.

Good luck.

I'd still see if you can get the alignment better - just in your pic we can see how it off a bit.
Then ensure there is enough tension in the belt (it might be marginal right now).

Then I'd have the alt bench tested. Ask the guy to vary the pressure he applies to the jumper belt in the testing machine. If it doesnt squeak at any time, then it's still an issue on your car.

MHO.
Good luck.

yea i dunno, i have a pretty good eye...haha and that tensioner doesnt look straight to me.....maybe its the pic, but i know mine doesnt look like that, haha! i had to shim mine with a few washers to make it perfectly square with the rest of the pulleys. just a tip ! but like HISSIN said, get the alternator tested, that could be the problem too.
