finally just bought my third stang, 88 gt hatch 5 sp... all along i was planning to put a kb on it but now people are telling me to save the 3k and put it into the resto of my 65... so "bang for the buck" what do i do?? just bought the stuff for the frpp mass air conversion... but what next i know nitrous but ill keep filling that up and bolt ons and prices will eventualy add up to 3k right?? any opinions. thanks guys!! oh ps bought 3.73 too...
 
forgot to mention that i am in VA so i need to pass emissions... so alot of heads... cam.... intake... ect.. are out thats why i wanted the kb it has a carb e.o. number and is 50 state legal... dont want to start a supercharger battle just decideing supercharger or bolt ons..
 
VA has emissions for an 88? dude that really sux here in Pitt co. NC its OBDII and up(96-present). hell nething 30yrs old or older dont have to even be inspected. in johnston co. its only a safety inspecition. kennebells sound great. but traction at the track would be ur worse problem all that off idle power its like insta tire spin. and how would a stroker kit keep u from passing emissions? so what u go tmore displacement big deal. and there r plenty of aftermarket heads and intake manifolds that use all the factory provisions for EGR and what not but i cant think of them off the top of my head. and in ur signature is says uve got an x-pipe already does that have cats?
 
you could get gt40's, a smog cam, and throw the KB on top!! That would be in your 3K price range i bet - maybe after bolts n gaskets not, but you'll be able to manage, how much is a KB? i know gt40's or the "explorer heads" can be had cheap and a cam is cheap - i think the Thumper heads are like 700 or somethin, plus a cam, we'll say your at 1000 bucks, you have 2G's left, if you can get a KB for 2k, get it, or get a novi 1000 and use your stock intake - btw, you'll prob end up spendng more than 3k lol good luck

I am in VA and we dont have emissions testing around here in Roanoke , just state inspection , and all they look for are cats and if the smog pump is on the car and the belt is not bypassed ......so as long as you get something like GT40 heads and keep the smog pump hooked up , you shouldnt even have to run an emissions legal cam and you should be able to do a stroker even though I would put the money towards better heads and good cam and intake .......im running a cobra intake , b cam , and GT40 Y303 heads and gutted factory H pipe , they dont look at my car 3 minutes to get it inspected around here .....

bad pic but thats my baby texas car no rust... we have a sniffer test in my county... i have the cats and air pump that were removed am about to but them back on for my sniffer then i have 2 years.... i can deal with swapping an x pipe and belt evey 2 years but i dont wana do heads cam ect... right now im leaning toward a kb blower and call it a DAY drop the rest into my 65...
