Not true, I've been criticizing the Challenger for being too big and too heavy!

I think that Chrysler will have trouble selling the Challenger is sufficent numbers to make it profitable.
However, I welcome the competition as it will force Ford and especially the Ford dealers to keep their prices in line on Mustangs and SE Mustangs like the GT-500 and the rumored Bullitt and Mach 1.

Almost sounds like they're gonna position it as a niche car with that 6.1 Hemi/6 speed drivetrain and not produce a ton of them. Might not be cheap either. Unless they find a way to drop the weight it's not gonna be much faster than the current STR-8 cars.

can't disagree with that As far as the weight goes, at least it's not a 4 door behemoth like the magnum and charger.

I wonder how cheesy it'll look with 17 or 18s on board. Still yet if it looks clos e to show car, it will be awesome!

I'm guessing it'll be $40k, so priced closer to the Shelby GT500, but the GT500 will probably be faster. The Dodge will have a bigger back seat, though, and IRS and will probably seem more refined and practical to the average buyer.

Yuk yuk yuk... I hope they start taking order soon! I'm ready with my deposit when they are I agree, I don't necessarily think this is going to be any challenge to the mustang. I sure won’t be getting rid of mine! I'm just thrilled to death that the muscle car wars have returned and with pretty awesome cars. Seeing this Challenger and how well they pulled off retro has me pretty excited; it’s one sweet looking ride!

Yes, I doubt that there will be much overlap with the Mustang GT. Pricing will have to be on the high side of a 300C hemi. The Challenger will be competition for the GT-500 and possibly other SE Mustangs like a new Mach 1.

That's great news, but I don't believe for a second that they'll make a 6.1 only. Not when they can have a Hemi R/T to compete with the Mustang ($30K) AND have the 6.1 in an SRT-8 version ($40K+ w/ "market adjustment"). Makes no sense to make it that niche.

Must be you've never driven one. Actually I don't like the looks of the Camero, I don't call it "RETRO'D", the only one close to being a true RETRO is the STANG. The other car makers can't help it if they have no concept of "RETRO" and bringing it to reality...like the STANG.:SNSign:

Oh I've driven one alright. My friend Nick has a firebird. I drove it once. Then he burned the clutch trying to impress me with it's power. The only thing really impressive was the duration the burning smell stayed with the car. If you don't like the looks of the camaro. Then why would you think you would like the looks of the firebird? All you'd get is different taillights and a different nose piece.
