New Clutch

UPDATE:New Clutch

Looks like I have to step up my timetable for repairs this summer - clutch is gone. Got an estimate from the local mechanic for $1350 (12 hrs. labor) - this sound right? I'm down in VA - might Triple AAA it over to Excessive Autosports (Only work on mustangs) if the estimate is off - if anyone can lemme know what it's costed you I could get a better idea of where to go from here. Thanks fellas.

Well, the clutch is in, and DAMN. What a difference - I really wasn't aware how bad my clutch was before, but now I can see how busted it was. On the downside, I don't have the $$$ to do exhaust so they threw on a few phalanges that had come loose and tightened everything up: conclusion: less raspy (cause the exhaust was loose and trashed it sounded actually not bad) and more sounding like a 4.6 - lets just say the borla, bassani, and manifolds will be on their way as soon as possible! Thanks for all the input - thankfully that is the last job my local mechanic is doing, it's straight to Excessive (mustangs only) for everything else now. Peace.

Clutch Repair

Dealership here in Charlotte area quoted me $850.00 and a local mechanic said he could do it for around $500.00. Have been milking the clutch on mine for the lasr six months either trying to save the money or get the guts to tackle it myself...... not a born mechanic if you know what I mean.

I have a couple of days to spend vacating somewhere. I will replace them each for $300.00 + round trip. I will need a place to sleep one of the nights. J/K. Those labor prices might be a touch on the high side. I had mine done, before I knew I could have and should have done it, for about $250 bucks. I should only take a mustang person about 4 hours from start to finish. I do wish I lived closer, I would probably do it for the beer.

Uhmmm??? Those mofos are on "CRACK" :nonono:
If you meant Excessive Motorsport, they will take care of you. I get a lot of work done there as well as parts. Take your car to them an tell them your quote from the guys on crack. :p

that seems like motivation enough to call them. hey 94SC50, what part of N. VA are you from?

If you got some decent handtools, jack, stands, time and space, do it yourself. I understand the aforementioned is not always the case. Picked up a Haynes manual yet?..goes thru it step by step, really a piece of cake. 12 hours and 1350 is to much for an honest mechanic, or is that parts too? wish I got paid 112.50 an hour!!! Take a trip through Sears and price some of that stuff, probably cheaper than that. Tools are always good to have around especially if you have more in mind for your car. I'd do it for a quarter of that price and a case of beer, and teach you how to do it. Good Luck man
